No website dealing with personal emergencies, medical and criminal, would be complete without a page on weaponry. You  won't find any guns here. I have nothing against guns...it's just that they all too often create permanent solutions when temporary is all that's needed.

The objective with all these devices is to give you time to get away to a safe place by temporarily disabling your attacker. Typically, that means 30 to 45 seconds of run time. Not much time, but enough to jump in your car and drive off, or run to a neighbor and bang on the door, or, worst case, calling 911 on your cellphone.

Having one or more of these devices, I think, makes a lot of sense. Hopefully you'll never have to use them. But given today's sick economy and high crime rate, the risk factor has gone up significantly.
